The best place to snorkel with sea turtles in Sri Lanka is Hikkaduwa's turtle beach on the south coast, with reliable sightings year-round in shallow water a few metres from shore. Peraliya and Dalawella (further south) also work. Visit at low tide, avoid touching the turtles, and skip operators who hand-feed them. A half-day private snorkel tour costs USD 50-80 per person including gear.
